How to Use BandLab App
As a BandLab App user, you can create projects up to 16 tracks and 15 minutes long using the Mix Editor (BandLab’s online digital audio workstation).
For BandLab Web, you can record by logging into your account or signing up here.
- Tap the red + Create button to create a new project.
- You will be taken to the New Track screen and can choose from 7 options:
Instruments – Play a selection of virtual instruments using your keyboard or MIDI controller
Drum Machine – Create beats and rhythms with the built-in drum machine
Voice/Mic – Record your voice/any other sound
Guitar – Plug in your guitar to use BandLab as an amp
Bass – Plug in your bass to use BandLab as an amp
Import Audio/MIDI – Import audio/MIDI files using your computer
Browse Loops – Browse the loop pack library, sorting them by genres and instruments of your interest
- Once you have created the track, enter your project name, key, tempo and time signature, and adjust the metronome settings: Before you record, make sure you have set the Source setting (in the bottom left corner of the Mix Editor) Test the input under. When you see the volume meter spinning, everything is set.
- Once everything is ready, click the red record button (shortcut R) and start recording. Click the same button again to stop recording (shortcut Enter).
- Once you are finished recording, save your project by clicking the save button in the upper right corner of your screen.
If you decide not to use headphones, don’t forget to make sure you have adequate soundproofing. There is a lot of soundproofing gear out there so make sure you do your research to choose the best one.
